Here is this year’s offering of such photos, again taken at Rosliston Forestry Centre, part of The National Forest. Rosliston Forestry Centre
The car park and centre are closed due to the pandemic restrictions but access to the footpaths is still possible for walkers. It is a minor disadvantage not being able to park at the centre (they have promised to extend out annual car park pass!) but the big plus is that there are very few people there so it is good to enjoy the peace and quiet at this wonderful time of the year, especially in such good weather.

Quite a few small country parks between Burton, Ashby and Coalville connect Needwood Forest and Charnwood Forest to form the National Forest. Chinese proverb – the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. How true this is. In these former coal mining areas the trees are now beginning to mature nicely. There are a few tourist attractions without being too touristy if that makes sense. I must do a full blog about it sometime.

I used to9 travel in that area for work and remember the National Forest being set up, including the satirical home made sign “National Forest of Signs”. Must have another look – maybe next year…
