Stone arches hold still
Seasoned trees lean toward the stream
Time flows underneath.
(AI haiku)
A couple of weeks ago the digital image of the winter donkeys created some interest so here’s another image which started life as a perfectly normal photograph. This is the ancient bridge over the river Wye at Bakewell in Derbyshire. I particularly like the way the process has enhanced the stonework and added texture.
The app I used will also produce, upon request, AI-generated poems, songs and even short stories based on the image but when I tried them none of them left a favourable impression. However, I did tap the button for an instant haiku and although I’m no expert, this one struck me as quite acceptable. (I’m aware that one or two poetry enthusiasts read this blog, so views and corrections are welcome!)
A haiku must follow a certain framework and a firm set of rules and perhaps AI also works best when it’s given a clear structure, guides and instruction — rather like humans, come to think of it.
I would commend AI on the haiku key elements, but would question the use of 8 syllables in the second line. (Although modern forms can vary greatly)
