A couple of weeks ago we spent a few days on the Yorkshire coast. After a morning in Whitby we travelled north to Runswick Bay. We had not been there before and what a charming coastal village it is. Many of the properties can only be accessed by steep and narrow paths. I watched two delivery men negotiating the steps to deliver a fridge freezer – not their favourite drop on a very hot afternoon.

What a great idea to have a two minute beach clean board, complete with litter pickers and bags for rubbish. We were told it is a very good beach but the tide was in, making access quite difficult.

A place we have never been to and, sadly, steep and narrow paths are not an option now. A lovely part of the country though!

Even the walk from the car park was down a very steep hill.

I’m with Peter. I live here but have never been to Runswick Bay.
Unfortunately, Covid left a legacy, I would never be able to make those hilly paths and slopes today.
A boat trip would might work. From Whitby perhaps? 😀

A boat trip sounds a splendid idea! In fact the day we were there, the new Whitby lifeboat was in the bay. I think it had only been delivered to Whitby a day or two earlier so the crew were probably on familiarisation training.

I love Whitby. My late husband had relatives who owned a pub nearby.
I think Whitby is in need of another visit. I’ll research those boat trips too. Thank you, John.

Great set of shots. I can almost breathe the sea air and feel the sunshine 🙂
